Laketown Township Beach and Dunes: 6710 142nd Avenue

Climb the steps at Laketown Beach, and see a spectacular view of Lake Michigan. The stairway, leading up and over the dune, helps protect the fragile dune environment while affording visitors access to the lake. This is one of the largest Dunes in our area. For preservation it has been covered in Dune Grass and visitors are no longer allowed to climb the dune's face. The area offers a great dune atmosphere and beach that is seldom crowded. If you go by boat, it is about halfway between the Holland and Saugatuck piers. On the weekend, you will see boats anchored in front.

Biking or Driving from the Shipyard, turn onto 32nd Street. After the curve, turn right onto 66th street. Continue South on 66th St. for about 3 miles. After the curvy section of road where you pass a lake on the East side, you will turn right (West) at 142nd Street. This road will end at the dune.

The BMX track sits on the top of the hill the Saugatuck Dunes Correctional facility (formerly a prep school for the St. Augustine seminary) occupied.
